In February 2022, the Hamburg-based start-up Bestjack sees the light of day. The focus is on a fresh and contemporary realisation of traditional card games with Skatfreunde as the first product.

Daniel Schäfer is regarded as an outstanding personality among skat players in Germany. He has already achieved several successes at the Skat Masters and is the reigning Bundesliga champion with his team. He also runs the most successful YouTube channel in this field. Thanks to his tireless passion, he has succeeded in showing the game in a new light and rekindling enthusiasm for this timeless classic among many people. With his videos, the unique skat island and his ingenious skat puzzles, he has significantly shaped the digital skat offering for many years.

But there was one thing Daniel always missed in order to take the game of skat to a new level: a skat app that focusses on pure gaming fun and can therefore compete with the successful free-to-play mobile games of our time – without compromise. Based on this vision, he founded his most ambitious and favourite project to date, the start-up Bestjack Entertainment, in 2022 together with Benedikt Göpfert, with whom he had already developed the tutorial Die Skatinsel in 2015. Since then, a young, dedicated team of game developers has been working with great enthusiasm on the realisation of an innovative skat app as their first work. This project is subsidised by the City of Hamburg and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection.

From November 2025, ‘Skatfreunde’ will be available in the popular app stores and successfully compete with the established providers.
